Gatteo is a municipality formed by many hamlets: the chief town, Gatteo, where there is an interesting fortified castle, Sant'Angelo, Fiumicino and the most famous Gatteo Mare, risen in 1920 as holiday center, located near the mouth of the river Rubicone, made famous by Julius Ceasar, who crossing it said "Alea iacta est" , the die is cast.
But Gatteo is not only beach and sea, that as in all the Coast of Romagna offer entertainment, relax and typical food: the historical center in fact is rich of history and culture; you can visit the medieval castle and the beautiful churches of San Rocco and San Lorenzo.
Gatteo Mare has a modest territorial extension (only one square km), but offers to the tourists quite 90 hotels, 30 bathing establishments, nearly 300 apartments for rent, and moreover bar, discotheques and handicraft shops.
